Where did you grow up?
Roanoke, Virginia
Why did you become a doctor and why did you choose your specialty?
After dealing with my own medical problems as a child, I became very interested in the human body and how it works. I also wanted to provide support and comfort to those who are sick, much like the wonderful doctors and nurses who took care of me did! I chose hematology and oncology because the patients and families I work with are resilient! I also enjoy the ongoing research in this field.
How long have you practiced in the Washington, DC area and what do you like most about it?
I have been in the Washington, DC area for several years now. I love going to new restaurants, vineyards, and museums. I love the Air and Space Museum!
What do you most enjoy doing outside of your clinical practice, when you’re not working?
I enjoy playing with my golden retriever, spending time with my husband and son, reading, listening to music, arts/crafts, and spending time with friends and family.
Describe your proudest accomplishment as a provider and/or in your personal life:
Graduating from Drexel with my master’s degree!
If you weren’t a doctor, what profession would you most likely be doing and why?
I would be a musician. I can’t sing, but I played the flute growing up. I love all types of music!
